•Dominant reading – commonly known representations, not always positive.

•Laura Mulvey (1975)  - common ideology of how women are represented as sex objects.

•Stereotypes

•Erpz & Katz (1999) – Men are often represented as having tendencies of pathological control and violence. This could be reinforced in the lyrics of a song.

•John Berger – Men act, women appear.
